Delta State Police Command has invited a university don, Prof Patrick Muoboghare, President General of Uwheru Kingdom in Ughelli north local government area, over alleged terrorism and gun running allegations.

Also invited for allegedly being accomplices are some community leaders of the Uwheru kingdom, Chief Macpherson Igbedi, Mr Obukohwo Ekpevwru, said to be the primary suspect under investigation and eight others.

A copy of the invitation letter addressed to Mr Obukohwo Ekpevwru, dated September 25, 2024, was sighted by Leadership Newspapers.

The invitation with Ref No CR: 3422/DTS/X-SQD/VOL3/172 and titled “Police Invitation Letter Re: Case Of Acts Of Terrorism, Illegal Possession of Firearms, Gun Running, Criminal Intimidation, Dealings In Illicit Substance And Conduct Likely To Cause Breach Of The Peace” was signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of X-Squad Unit, Lucky Adagbon.

Muoboghare, former Commissioner for Higher Education and other invitees are being summoned to appear before the Command’s headquarters, Asaba at 11 am on Monday.

The letter read, “This office is investigating the above-mentioned case in which you and others were alleged. In the same vein, you are requested to come for an interface with the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Asaba, through the Office of the X-Squad Unit, Asaba, on Monday 30th September 2024 at 1100hrs prompt.

A source close to the community, however, confided the police invitation cannot be ruled out of the internal crisis between the traditional ruler of Uwheru Kingdom and some leaders in the area.

Prof Muoboghare, former Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Delta State University, Abraka, confirmed the invitation.
