Temple Emekayi has been named captain of Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, outfit, Rivers United.
Emekayi will take over the responsibility of leading the team following forward, Nyima Nwagua’s departure for Saudi Arabia.
The centre-back captained Rivers United during their opening five matches this season.
The defender will be assisted by left-back, Paul Odeh, who has also been named assistant captain.
Emekayi joined Rivers United in January 2019 and has established himself as one of the key players at the club.
He helped the Port Harcourt club win the NPFL title in the 2021/22 season.
