Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia defeated Kwara Utd Football Club of Ilorin on Sunday in a postponed Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, match.
Sunday Megwo’s 76th minute goal made the difference in the game, giving the maximum three points to the Warriors.
The game was scheduled to hold on Saturday evening but a six hour downpour could not allow the game to be played.
The situation made the match officials to shift the match to 8:00 am Sunday, with the agreement of both teams.
The match was not watched by the usual mammoth crowd, as the time of the game clashed with the period for Church service of most residents.
However, many ardent supporters of Abia Warriors still came to drum support for their team.
