The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State  has launched its campaign  for the upcoming local government election in Abeokuta North, with its chairmanship candidate, Hon. Adewusi Ambali, and his running mate, Hon. Akinbode Akinmade, receiving royal endorsements from key traditional rulers in the Oke Ogun community.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  campaign kickoff began on Saturday with a visit to the palace of the Onisaga of Isaga, Oba Olusoji Tella, where Adewusi’s political ambition received blessings from the monarch and his chiefs.

Oba Tella expressed his support and prayed for Adewusi’s success in the upcoming election, signaling the traditional backing crucial for grassroots influence.

Similarly, the Onilewo of Ilewo, Oba Clement Omosowon, through his palace representatives, endorsed the PDP candidate and called on the people to support Adewusi.

The Onilewo highlighted the PDP’s past contributions to the community, including the only maternity center in Ilewo, built during the party’s previous tenure, as evidence of the party’s commitment to local development.

Addressing a large gathering of party supporters and voters at Ibara-Orile Ward 16, Adewusi pledged to focus on grassroots development if elected.

He urged voters to come out in large numbers, dismissing doubts about the impact of their votes, emphasizing that each vote counts towards positive change in the community.

In Ward 9, Sabo Area, Adewusi  expressed optimism about the party’s chances, citing overwhelming acceptance across the 16 wards in Abeokuta North.

He called on the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), led by Gbenga Osibodu, to ensure a transparent, fair election, emphasizing that a level playing field would reflect the will of the people.

Local PDP Chairman, Hon. Yussuf Oshunrinde, commended the turnout and the support shown by party members, saying it demonstrated strong grassroots momentum.

Meanwhile, Hon. Moroof Ajisegiri, the Director General of the Adewusi/Akinmade campaign organization, expressed confidence in the team’s victory at the polls.
