I Remain Committed To Serving The People, No Retreat, No Surrender – ADP Chairmanship Candidate, Ayinla Egba

Olalekan Alex Shoyinka, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) chairmanship candidate for Abeokuta South Local Government, has rejected recent allegations from the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding his candidacy, reiterating his commitment to contesting in the upcoming local government elections.

In a strongly-worded statement issued to the public, Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, denounced the APC’s claims as “baseless” and aimed at misleading the electorate.

He emphasized that his candidacy remained resolute despite the growing pressure from political opponents who, according to him, are facing imminent defeat in the polls.

“My instinctive reaction would have been to ignore this last-ditch desperate attempt by the drowning party,” Shoyinka said, adding that it was necessary to respond to prevent the spread of lies that could confuse his supporters.

He made it clear that he would not be deterred by unfounded speculations or attempts to derail his mission for a transparent and inclusive leadership.

Shoyinka, a native of Ijemo in Abeokuta South, reaffirmed his belief in the potential of the community and the necessity for leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people above personal or partisan interests.

“I will never trade my ambition and the support I have freely received for any form of inducement,” he stated, further asserting his dedication to serving the people of Abeokuta South.

The ADP candidate also condemned what he described as clandestine efforts by the ruling party to disrupt Saturday’s election.

He claimed that APC leaders were attempting to incite violence by hiring thugs to interfere with the voting process.

Shoyinka revealed that the ADP was compiling video evidence of a disturbing incident involving the APC candidate publicly mutilating naira notes, which occurred in Abeokuta on Thursday.

He called for a thorough investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS), urging law enforcement to take swift legal action.

“I remain focused on this mission and will not be distracted by unfounded speculations,” he assured his supporters, emphasizing that the ADP’s efforts would continue undeterred.

He also called on the people of Abeokuta South to come out in full force on election day to cast their votes for the ADP, promising to work tirelessly for a better future for all.

Shoyinka concluded his statement by reaffirming the ADP’s unity and resolve: “Together, we can build a better future. ADP… One Destiny.”

The local government election is set for Saturday, and the political atmosphere in Abeokuta South remains charged as Shoyinka prepares to go head-to-head with the APC’s candidate in a crucial contest for leadership.
