Terrorists Abduct Bride, Four Bridesmaids During Sokoto Wedding Ceremony

Terrorists, locally referred to as bandits, disrupted a wedding ceremony in Kwaren Gamba, near Kuka Teke in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, abducting a newly wedded bride and four bridesmaids on Saturday.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, linked to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, stormed the community, causing widespread panic and forcing the victims into captivity before vanishing into the night.

A security source, Zagazola Makama, disclosed that the incident has left the community in shock, with residents mourning the growing insecurity in the region.

“The situation is unbearable, and our people are losing hope,” a local elder lamented anonymously.

This latest abduction comes just days after another gruesome attack in the same local government area. On Monday, bandits killed nine members of a local vigilante group in Dantudu Lajinge village, slitting their throats in a targeted assault.

The assailants reportedly abducted the wives of the slain men while their bodies lay in pools of blood.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that a tenth victim, initially believed to have been killed, survived after being shot in the neck and is currently receiving medical attention.

Bello Dan-Tudu, a resident of Dantudu Lajinge, described the horrific scene, saying, “They targeted members of our vigilante group and slaughtered nine of them like ordinary rams.”

Another source added that the attackers executed the victims at close range, further underscoring the brutality of the incident.

The Chairman of Sabon Birni Local Government Council, Ayuba Hamisu, confirmed the attacks and expressed concern over the escalating violence in the area.

Residents of Sabon Birni have repeatedly called on authorities to take decisive action against the persistent attacks, which have left families grieving and communities in fear.

The repeated assaults, coupled with the abduction of innocent civilians, highlight the worsening security crisis in Sokoto State and the urgent need for government intervention.
