In a reaffirmation of its dedication to improving the well-being of its host communities, Egbin Power has conducted its 7th Annual Medical Outreach, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good Health and Well-being.
The three-day programme, held in partnership with Livewell Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organisation, provided free medical services to over 3,000 residents across Egbin, Ijede, and Ipakan communities.
Beneficiaries included children, adults, and nursing mothers, who received comprehensive healthcare services ranging from cardiovascular checks, diabetes tests, and malaria treatment to dental and eye examinations, hepatitis screening, and blood pressure checks.
Residents also received free eyeglasses, dental kits, and medications after undergoing thorough medical evaluations by qualified healthcare professionals.
Speaking on the initiative, Egbin Power’s Head of Corporate Communications and Branding, Felix Ofulue, reiterated the company’s commitment to the health of its host communities.
“At Egbin Power, we understand that the well-being of our host communities is integral to our success. This outreach programme reflects our commitment to SDG 3, ensuring access to quality healthcare for all. We remain dedicated to fostering healthy communities,” Ofulue stated.
The Managing Director of Livewell Initiative, Dr. Bisi Bright, commended the collaboration, highlighting its impact. “We are proud to partner with Egbin Power on this transformative programme. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of community members,” she said.
Traditional leaders and residents echoed these sentiments. The Aro of Egbin Kingdom, High Chief Olayemi Olukunga, lauded Egbin Power’s consistent support, noting, “This annual outreach has become a cherished tradition in our community. We deeply appreciate its positive impact on our lives.”
Community members expressed their gratitude for the initiative. Mrs. Wasilat Ogundipe, a resident of Egbin, said, “This programme allows us to address our health concerns without financial burden. It is a lifesaver for many vulnerable members of our community.”
Similarly, Alhaji Bello Monsuru of Ipakan Community emphasized the financial relief the initiative provides. “Access to quality healthcare is costly, but Egbin Power has made it accessible to us for years. We hope this remarkable gesture continues,” he remarked.
The Community Liaison Officer of Ijede Community, Agbabiaka Muftau, praised the company’s unwavering commitment to healthcare. “This outreach has consistently improved our health and well-being. Egbin Power’s efforts are commendable,” he said.
