The much-anticipated Remo Day 2024 celebration has begun, promising a vibrant showcase of culture and tradition from 37 out of the 47 towns in Remoland.
The event, which spans from Friday, December 20 to Friday, December 27, 2024, was heralded by a media preview at the Akarigbo’s Palace Hall, Ita-Oba, Sagamu, Ogun State.
During the preview, attendees were given a glimpse of a specially curated museum created for the event.
The Chairman of the Remo Day 2024 Planning Committee, Prince Wole Sowole, who also serves as the 1st Vice Chairman of the Remo Growth and Development Foundation (RemoGDF), highlighted key features of the celebration.
Sowole revealed that an art exhibition would be a major highlight, showcasing the creative works of children from schools across Remoland.
Prizes will be awarded to outstanding participants, while the artistic talents of Remo indigenes will also be displayed.
Additionally, abridged profiles of notable icons from Remoland and 37 towns within the region have been meticulously prepared to educate and inspire attendees.
Sowole noted that committees have been working tirelessly to ensure the success of the event, which has been designated as the final major cultural gathering in Remoland for the year by the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi.
Sowole further Sia that a major attraction of the festivities will be a cultural play scheduled for December 24.
According to him, rehearsals have been ongoing, with an impressive turnout at practice session.
The play, featuring prominent figures like Kunle Bamtefa, Jimi Olusola, and the Elepe of Epe, will also be taken to Lagos by popular demand.
“The play will be staged free of charge, and funds raised during the event will be directed toward the development of Remoland,” Sowole disclosed.
He said the celebrations will culminate on December 27 with a grand rally featuring the towns of Remoland.
According to him, this unifying event aims to foster solidarity among the communities.
He added that concurrently, a youth concert will take center stage, featuring hip-hop artists, including the renowned musician 9ice, to entertain the audience.
