The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has adjourned the trial of Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, to January 22, 2025.
Justice Bayo Taiwo announced the adjournment following objections raised by the defence counsel, Mr. Olalekan Ojo.
During the proceedings on Wednesday, Mr. Ojo challenged the prosecution’s attempt to call Inspector Innocent Agede from the Command Monitoring Unit, Eleyele, Ibadan, as a witness.
He argued that the prosecution, led by Mr. S.O. Adeoye, failed to provide critical documents, including a summary of the witness’s statements, as mandated by Section 380 (iii) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Oyo State, 2016.
“I need to have copies of photographs, Compact Discs, and other materials the prosecution intends to use in support of its case,” Ojo stated, emphasizing the necessity of the materials for adequate defence preparation.
Justice Taiwo granted the defence’s request and adjourned the case to allow time for the prosecution to furnish the required documents.
Lamidi, a former chairman of the Park Management System in Oyo State, is facing 18 charges, including armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms.
The offences allegedly occurred on May 29, 2023, at Governor Seyi Makinde’s residence in Ikolaba, Ibadan.
The defendant, who pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment on November 27, 2024, remains in custody as the trial progresses.
