A pregnant woman has been arrested in Kubwa, Abuja, on allegations of setting a woman ablaze over suspicions of infidelity involving her husband. The incident, which occurred on Christmas Day 2024, has left the local community in shock.
According to a lawyer who shared the account on the social media platform X, the deceased, identified as Lisa (surname withheld), visited the couple’s home on the festive day.
During the visit, the pregnant wife reportedly doused Lisa with petrol and set her on fire, accusing her of being her husband’s side chic.
Lisa was immediately rushed to the National Hospital in Abuja but succumbed to her injuries. Friends and acquaintances have since described her as merely a friend to the accused woman’s husband, debunking claims of an affair.
Following her tragic death, Lisa was buried at Gudu Cemetery. Her friends and family expressed relief that justice appears to be underway, with the suspect in police custody.
The police are yet to release an official statement on the matter, while the investigation continues.
The incident has sparked conversations about trust, violence in relationships, and the need for conflict resolution mechanisms within families.
