The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended a soldier, Lance Corporal Sani Aminu, for possession of a substance suspected to be Canadian Loud, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis.
The arrest took place on Wednesday in Lagos State.
A police signal obtained by Sahara Reporters confirmed the incident, revealing that the soldier, identified by service number 13NA/70/11481, was attached to Abalti Barracks in the Surulere area of Lagos.
According to the signal, a police patrol team led by ASP Alex Dung intercepted Lance Corporal Aminu around 8:15 pm.
The team found him in possession of the illicit substance and subsequently brought him to the station.
The case has reportedly been transferred to the Commissioner of Police Tactical Squad 1 for further investigation.
As of press time, there has been no official statement from the Nigerian Army or the Police regarding the arrest.
The discovery raises concerns over the involvement of military personnel in drug-related offenses, a growing issue that security agencies have pledged to address.
This development comes amid intensified efforts by law enforcement to crack down on the trafficking and consumption of illicit substances across the country.
