A newly formed sect identified as ACHAD Life Mission International has surfaced in the North West region of Nigeria, allegedly involving in human trafficking and child separation activities, according to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
In a circular dated January 14, 2025, the Principal Staff Officer to the Comptroller General of the NIS, CIS A.A.
Aridegbe, disclosed that the sect has its headquarters in Kaduna State, while its leader, simply identified as “Mr. Yokana,” resides in Jos, Plateau State.
The circular, titled “Emergence of a new sect known as ACHAD Life Mission International,” was distributed across all directorates, zones, training institutions, and commands of the service to heighten awareness and vigilance.
The NIS revealed that credible intelligence links the group to human trafficking operations and the separation of children from their families.
The circular stated, “The intelligence gathered by the Service reveals the emergence of a new Sect called ACHAD Life Mission International.
The Sect has been canvassing for members both within and outside Nigeria and is possibly involved in human trafficking and child separation.”
The sect is reported to reject both Islamic and Christian doctrines, instead advocating for the restoration of African traditions and promoting humanitarian causes.
However, authorities are urging caution regarding its operations.
The circular instructed officers to remain alert and report any activities or presence of the sect in their jurisdictions.
“In light of the above, you are requested to stay vigilant and report immediately any sign of the Sect, and where possible, arrest and revert accordingly,” the statement read.
Speaking to reporters, the spokesperson for the NIS, Kenneth Udo, confirmed the authenticity of the circular, emphasizing its purpose as a precautionary measure.
“It was issued by the service to alert officers,” he said.
The emergence of ACHAD Life Mission International adds to the list of security challenges in the region, with authorities keen on dismantling the group’s operations.
While investigations continue, the NIS is working closely with other security agencies to monitor the sect’s activities and prevent further harm.
