Crescent University, Abeokuta, has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering national unity and academic excellence by admitting students from all states of Nigeria and beyond, its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, has announced.
Speaking at the institution’s 20th matriculation ceremony, Prof. Gbajabiamila emphasized the university’s inclusive admission policy, which welcomes students irrespective of their ethnicity, religion, or background.
He noted that this approach has positioned Crescent University as a respected citadel of learning in its two decades of existence.
“Our university has built a solid reputation over the last 20 years, earning wide acceptance among stakeholders. We pride ourselves on being a hub of academic and moral excellence where students from every part of Nigeria and beyond can thrive,” Gbajabiamila said.
The ceremony, held for both full-time and part-time students across faculties, including Law, Information and Communication Technology, Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, as well as Arts, Social, and Management Sciences, also featured a reaffirmation of the institution’s moral values. Fresh students took an oath to uphold discipline, avoid criminal activities, and promote the university’s integrity.
Prof. Gbajabiamila also highlighted a recent milestone for the university—the approval of its multimillion-naira Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
He congratulated the Proprietor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prince Mahruf Adesegun Ajibola (SAN), and the university’s management for the achievement.
In his remarks, Prince Ajibola advised the new students to uphold the sacred oath they had taken, noting that it was integral to maintaining the university’s vision of academic and moral excellence.
The Chairman of Crescent University Parents’ Forum (CUPAF), Dr. Toriola Coker, also lent his voice to the occasion, urging parents to support the institution’s mission.
Dr. Coker, whose four children have graduated from Crescent University while his fifth child is currently studying Nursing, described the university as “the best in the country” based on his experience.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, represented by Mrs. Kafayat Ibiwoye, Head of Matriculation and Monitoring; former Ogun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi; and the Oloola of Ilara, HRH Oba Mutiu Alani Adedimeji Oyede-Lawal.
Also in attendance were senior university officials, including the Registrar, Barr. Zakariya Ajibola (represented by H.B. Ogunsola); the University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Salaam; and the University Bursar, Alhaji Tirimisiyu Gbadebo Ogunmefun.
