In a recent development, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of law admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session in eight Nigerian universities.
This decision follows the Council of Legal Education’s (CLE) directive to halt the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme due to non-compliance with regulatory standards.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, spokesperson for JAMB, revealed in a statement on Wednesday that the affected universities include Kwara State University in Ilorin, Kwara State; Bingham University in Karu, Nasarawa State; Redeemers University in Ede, Osun State; and Western Delta University in Oghara, Delta State.
Also affected are Taraba State University in Jalingo, Taraba State; Arthur Jarvis University in Akpabuyo, Cross River State; Alex Ekwueme Federal University in Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State; and Nigerian Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State.
According to Benjamin, the suspension at Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, will span the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 academic sessions, impacting future law admissions.
“As a result of these developments, JAMB will not process admissions for candidates seeking to enroll in the Law programme at the aforementioned universities for the 2025/2026 academic session,” Benjamin stated.
He further emphasized that the ban on law programme registrations at the Nigerian Police Academy will extend into the subsequent academic session, 2026/2027.
