Owerri, the Imo State capital, came alive on Saturday as it played host to dignitaries and well-wishers who gathered to witness the Igbankwu (traditional marriage) ceremony between David Achudume, son of the Founder of Victory Life Bible Church, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, and his bride, Precious Chukwu.

The colourful event, which took place at the upscale Mayfair Hotel in the heart of Owerri, was marked by pomp and pageantry as guests from across the country graced the occasion, dressed in shimmering traditional attires.

The couple, donning coordinated wine-coloured outfits, stole the spotlight with their radiant smiles and regal appearance.

The atmosphere was set with luxurious drapes and a tastefully decorated podium, creating an ambience of elegance befitting the high-profile celebration.

The event was also a significant gathering for Nigeria’s Christian community, with notable clerics from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and other religious bodies in attendance.

The ceremony, filled with spiritual exhortations and heartfelt prayers, underscored the sacredness of the union.

In their messages, the men of God emphasised the sanctity of marriage as ordained by God, urging the couple to place Christ at the centre of their home and resolve conflicts amicably without third-party interference.

Apostle Lawrence Achudume, father of the groom, expressed profound gratitude to God, describing the occasion as a moment of fulfilment for every parent.

Clad in white and wine traditional attire, he prayed for a blissful union and advised the couple to embrace the new phase of life with responsibility and love.

“This is a season of joy. The prayer of every parent is to see their child settled and happy. I bless this union and charge you both to build a Christ-centred home,” he said.

Prominent personalities present at the ceremony included the National Secretary of PFN, Bishop David Bakare; PFN Vice-President (South-East), Bishop Maxwell Korie; former South-East Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Goddy Okafor; President of ICIC, Bishop Abraham Chigbundu; Bishop Maxwell Egbe; Bishop Jude Akhere; and Apostle Mike Tomowewo.

Also in attendance were Uloma Ojeias, Dr and Mrs Ben Akhigbe, members of Victory Life Bible Church, and families of both the bride and groom, who joined in celebrating the couple’s joyful beginning.

The glamorous ceremony not only united two hearts in love but also served as a convergence of faith, culture, and celebration in grand style.
