The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has issued a stern ultimatum to the Ogun State Government demanding the immediate removal of Olorile Of Orile Ifo, Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi.
This call comes in the wake of allegations of assault leveled against the traditional ruler by a 72-year-old elder Arinola Love Abraham JP on January 21, 2025..
During a press conference held at the CDHR Office in Abeokuta, the Chairman of Ogun CDHR, Comrade Funmi Onifade, disclosed that a press statement has been made and addressed to the Inspector General of Police, detailing multiple criminal allegations against Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi.
These allegations include assault, abduction, alleged killings, land grabbing, and threats to lives, among others.
Elder Arinola Love Abraham JP, a 73-year-old man who was reportedly assaulted while on his way to purchase food ingredients, recounted his ordeal during the press conference.
According to him, after being called by Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, he was allegedly slapped by the traditional ruler and subsequently attacked by his associates.
The CDHR’s press release emphasized the seriousness of the incident, citing a viral video that captured the assault as evidence of the dehumanization suffered by Elder Arinola Love Abraham JP.
The release further identified members of a suspected criminal squad allegedly associated with Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, including individuals known as LATECO, LUKOSI, SUCKER, AKEEM BANKOLE (a.k.a. Alameda), and OGUNROMBI (a.k.a. Elephant).
In addition to the assault, the CDHR’s petition accuses Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi of involvement in unlawful activities such as the illegal sale of government lands in the Ifo Industrial Estate and threats against anyone attempting to expose his actions.
The petition also alleges misuse of influence stemming from his former position as a policeman, claiming he has exploited his authority to commit human rights abuses.
The CDHR demanded the immediate arrest of Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi and all individuals implicated in the reported criminal activities, emphasizing the threat posed to the peace and security of Orile Ifo and the broader Ifo community.
The CDHR urged the Office of the Inspector General of Police to conduct a thorough investigation into Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi’s tenure in the Nigeria Police Force, aiming to uncover any potential criminal activities committed during his service and seeking justice for possible victims.
