In celebration of World Radio Day this year, the Premium Radio Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State, says the event would feature the Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, as the guest lecturer.
A statement issued by Secretary, Premium Radio Chapel, Ogun NUJ, Emmanuel Oke disclose that the event was scheduled to commence at 11:00am at the Aremo Olusegun Osoba Hall, Iwe Irohin, Abeokuta.
Oke said the event aims to honour the influence of radio and its pivotal role in fostering positive societal change.
According to him this year’s theme, ‘Radio and Climate Change,’ reveals radio’s capacity to advocate environmental sustainability.
He added that the Commissioner , esteemed for his tenure at Radio O.Y.O in Oyo State prior to assuming office, brings a wealth of experience in broadcasting and environmental stewardship.
He will address the sub-theme, ‘Leveraging Radio for Climate Action: The Role of Media in Environmental Sustainability,’ highlighting radio’s pivotal role in shaping public opinion and influencing policy for environmental conservation.
Also speaking on the event, Wale Olanrewaju, Chairman of the Ogun NUJ, said the lecture will emphasize radio’s crucial role in raising awareness about environmental issues and catalyzing effective climate policies.
The Premium Radio Chapel of Ogun NUJ, comprising journalists and broadcasters from various private radio stations across Ogun State, invites media practitioners, stakeholders, and the public to participate in this enriching discourse on World Radio Day 2025.
