Police Extradite ‘Killaboi’ From Qatar Over Girlfriend’s Murder

The Nigeria Police Force has extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, over the alleged murder of his 21-year-old girlfriend, Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.

The fugitive was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025, following a coordinated operation involving the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Force Headquarters, and Qatari judicial authorities.

Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Saturday, said the extradition process began after the deceased’s family submitted a petition through their lawyers on September 29, 2024.

Investigations revealed that Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, was killed at Killaboi’s residence in Ajah, Lagos State, on July 13, 2023.

“After committing the crime, the suspect fled Nigeria and released a video online purportedly confessing to the murder to derail police investigations,” Adejobi said.

Following his declaration as wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued.

He was initially arrested in Sierra Leone on October 20, 2023, under a false identity but escaped custody during a prison break in Freetown on November 26, 2023.

According to the police, Killaboi continued evading arrest across several countries under forged identities until he was traced to Doha on January 24, 2025, using a fake Guinean passport bearing the name “Toure Abdoulaye.”

He was eventually arrested in February 2025 by Qatari authorities after biometric verification confirmed his identity. The Qatari government approved Nigeria’s extradition request submitted through the Ministry of Justice.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the collaborative effort of INTERPOL, the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar, and Qatari authorities in securing the suspect’s return.

He assured Nigerians that the Police would ensure diligent prosecution of the case, adding that the Force remains committed to justice and the safety of all citizens.
