The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has emerged overall winner and third-place finisher at the 2025 Federal Public Service Innovation Competition, clinching two top spots out of 155 entries submitted by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
A statement issued by the Ag. Head, Communication & Public Affairs, Hawwau Gambo, andade available to PLATFORM TIMES read that the competition, organised by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), culminated in an award ceremony held on Tuesday, April 29 in Abuja, where Head of Service, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, announced the NDIC’s dual victories.
The Corporation’s Carpooling Team took first place with an innovative digital ridesharing application designed to reduce commuting costs for federal workers. The solution earned the team the grand prize of N5 million.
Also, a second NDIC team secured third place with a digital office suite solution, Perfoma, designed to enhance productivity and streamline administrative processes.
The application enables efficient document creation, task tracking, and performance monitoring, earning a N3 million cash prize.
Walson-Jack lauded all participating agencies, noting that innovation remains one of the six strategic pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2021–2025).
She praised NDIC for aligning with the federal government’s vision of a responsive and forward-looking civil service.
Speaking on behalf of the NDIC Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Bello Hassan, the Director of Strategy Development Department, Mrs. Gwa Uduwak Zachary, commended the OHCSF for sustaining the tradition of innovation and celebrated the NDIC teams’ accomplishments.
Receiving the winning teams at the NDIC headquarters, Hassan described the recognition as a clear validation of the Corporation’s commitment to excellence and problem-solving through technology.
“This double recognition is a testament to the innovative spirit and professionalism that NDIC nurtures.
Our teams have once again demonstrated the Corporation’s leadership in deploying technology and creative thinking to solve real-world challenges,” he said.
The NDIC’s performance in the competition reflects its continued investment in operational innovation, digital transformation, and effective governance. The Corporation pledged to scale the winning solutions and support broader reforms across the civil service.
