Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has said that the reconstruction of roads and bridges connecting Raba and other communities with Mokwa town would be reconstructed at the cost of N7 billion.

He said the contract has already been awarded.

Bago made this known when he visited the victims of the devastating flood that swept through Mokwa town which claimed several lives and left many displaced.

Bago also announced a donation of N1bn to the victims pending when resettlement begins properly.

He also revealed that the state government will provide 10 trucks each of rice, beans, maize, millet and sorghum to the victims.

He directed the Ministry for Land and Survey to issue a certificate of occupancy (C of O) to the federal government to facilitate immediate construction of the resettlement homes for the flood victims.

He said while the state government awaits the construction of the resettlement homes by the Federal government, necessary arrangements will be made to ensure that the flood victims do not remain in the IDP camp for too long.

He appreciated the federal government, donor partners and other government agencies, as well as spirited individuals who have so far supported the affected victims, and prayed for the repose of those that lost their lives during the flood.
