The revered first class traditional ruler of Igala nation, Ashadu Oko Ata Igala, His Royal Highness, Ali Yusuf Ameh Adaji has called on all stakeholders in Igala nation to close ranks and eschew bitterness for the progress and development of the land in the Kogi East.
The Royal Father disclosed this on Saturday during the inauguration of his new palace at Idah, the headquarters of ancient Igala Kingdom, in a fanfare occasion.
He said the time has come for the people of Igala ethnic extraction all over the world to come together as one in order to hold unbroken cord of ancestral oneness and unwavering commitment of the old that made the kingdom thick and dreaded for the needed progress to come by in the Igala nation.

“There is need for us to work in unity, work in integrity and honesty for the peace, progress and development of the Igala nation.
“There should be mutual love; and we should forgive one another, anytime we offend each other. Let us practice love, peace and forgiveness in our relationship, then the kingdom will grow again.
“Igala land is blessed with rich lands and mineral resources, as well as human resources; it’s only spirit of unity and peace, fueled by sense of purpose, commitment and collaboration that can turn these potentials to our strength and greatness.
“The greatest assets of the kingdom is our human resources, let us utilize it for the progress and development of our land. Let’s leverage on our human resources to build our kingdom to an enviable height,” he said.
The Royal Father therefore enjoined all Igala stakeholders to take the bull by the horns over the fragile security situation in the land that has umpteenth times disrupted the peace and progress of the Igala nation.
He said the new narratives of the criminal elements in the society of Igala nation need serious collaboration with the state government, security operatives and individual and corporate organizations to nip it in the bud before it destroyed the fabric of the kingdom, state and country in general.
“We can never take issues of security for granted; at this trying period, we should make it a top priority by all. Igala people are predominantly farmers, but unending threat from kidnappers and their likes is already scaring our farmers from going to the forest to farm, resulting in insecurity in food production and soaring price of food items.
“In the light of this, we need to monitor movements of armed herders and bandits within our community. We should be able to know the genuine herders and bandits so that we can relate with them appropriately.
“Sometimes ago, we noticed a particular forest where the kidnappers were using to hide their kidnap victims; we moved in and converted that forest to personal farm, to show the criminals that we will not allow them any space in that forest to settle and perpetrate criminality,” he said.
The Royal Father commended the state governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo for his giant strides in all field of human endeavour since he assumed office, stressing that he has exhibited milk of humanity in his administration which calls for support.
“Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s investment in peace and security has given us confidence and hope that we will defeat all threats of insecurity in the state.
“All issues bothering on security should not be left for the palace, individuals and state government alone, all of us has to be involved by giving out information to security agencies promptly for them to act appropriately.
“Recently, we noticed security threats in Ameke forest in our domain, I reported the issue to the governor ; and he promptly intervened by the deployment of troops to the area, which ended their activities, ” he said.
The monarch added that the palace will continued to partner with the state government to achieve more for Igala land, particularly to attract basic social infrastructure development into the enclave.
He added that the governor needs the support of all and sundry for he has shown to be a leader with great passion for development; with zero tolerance for insecurity of any kind in the state, by his posture and character of his administration, since he assumed office.
The occasion which attracted those that matters in the Igala nation was celebrated with almost all the title holders under Ashadu’s jurisdiction, an ancestral stool that wield heavy ancestral influence, with distinct role in Igala traditional chiefdom.
In the ancestral order, Ashadu is seen as a “husband” of Ata Igala , while Ata Igala remains his “wife”. Both have order of parallel ascension, function and traditional responsibilities.
