A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of one Elijah Innocent (24) at the correctional custody over an alleged case of rape in Ado-Ekiti.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the defendant was suspected to have committed the offence against a 19-year-old girl punishable under Section 265(1) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor added that the original case file had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional custody and adjourned the case till July 8, for mention.
