Chief ‘Kayode Aderemi has been elected as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abeokuta Branch, following a peaceful and well-coordinated election held on Thursday, June 27, 2025.
The electoral process, which was supervised by a team led by Dr. Sherif Olayinka Rasaq, Esq., culminated in the announcement of results by Mrs. O. Ogundele.
Aderemi, a respected legal practitioner, will lead a new executive team that includes Abimbola Akisanya as Vice Chairman; Tope Adekoya as General Secretary; Olatoye Adejola as Assistant General Secretary; Gabriel Agboola as Treasurer; and Abdulbasit Abolade Shuaib as Publicity Secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Aderemi expressed deep gratitude to members of the branch for entrusting him with the leadership mandate, describing the position as “a privilege and not a right.”
“I was raised to see leadership as a call to serve,” he said. “As we begin this two-year journey, I appeal for your renewed support to birth a vibrant, innovative and bold Abeokuta Bar.”
Acknowledging the possibility of human error, Aderemi urged members to judge the new administration by its intentions rather than any shortcomings in execution.
To his fellow contestants, he extended an olive branch, calling them “heroes” of the process and inviting them to join hands in advancing the interests of the bar.
“I certainly do not reckon myself better than you by any standard. Please, let us unite to uplift the Abeokuta Bar,” he said.
The new chairman concluded his address with a prayer for the success of the NBA Abeokuta branch, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the election marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for the Abeokuta Bar, as members look forward to a leadership that is poised to bring renewed energy and direction to the association.
