The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Marquee, Abeokuta, came alive on Friday as the engagement of Faisah Kolapo, daughter of media entrepreneur and Iya Suna of Egbaland, Dr. (Mrs.) Yemi Kolapo, and Hakeem Jimoh, son of retired General Moshood Jimoh from Erin-Ile, Kwara State, held in grand style.
The colourful ceremony, which showcased the richness of Yoruba culture blended with deep religious undertones, attracted eminent personalities from politics, business, diplomacy, the military, entertainment, and the media.
Former Ogun State Governors, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, led the roll call of high-profile guests, exchanging pleasantries with other dignitaries in an atmosphere filled with joy and cultural splendour.
Also present was Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Ishola, alongside Chief (Mrs.) Bola Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who brought her trademark elegance to the occasion.
The convener of the Alternative Movement, Segun Showunmi, equally graced the event, underscoring its significance.
The engagement, laced with prayers and goodwill messages, saw elders from both families admonish the couple to anchor their union on faith, love, and mutual respect, while making God the foundation of their home.
A cross-section of society was represented, including retired and serving senior military officers, Nollywood actors, journalists, political leaders, and traditional rulers, who all joined in the celebration.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kolapo expressed gratitude to guests for honouring her family, describing the day as one of the happiest moments of her life.
She further invited well-wishers to join the families at the Nikkah ceremony slated for Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the OOPL main marquee.
