A senior police officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Cyril Takim, has reportedly died suddenly at his residence in Aku Village Base 3, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the 54-year-old officer, who was attached to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, slumped in his bathroom around 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
A family source said the officer’s 21-year-old son, Courage Takim Ogar, found him unconscious and immediately rushed him to a nearby medical centre in Mararaba.
“He was still breathing faintly when we got to the hospital, but the doctor later confirmed him dead,” the source said.
Police detectives from the Mararaba Division were said to have visited the scene for preliminary investigation. According to security sources, no marks of violence or signs of foul play were discovered on the deceased.
“The death has been classified as sudden and unnatural. The corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and further investigation,” a police source told PLATFORM TIMES on Friday.
Late ASP Takim was said to be a dedicated officer known for his professionalism and calm disposition among his colleagues.
The police authorities at Zone 7 Headquarters are yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report.
