Muslim girls from 25 public and private secondary schools across Abeokuta South and North Local Government Areas have been urged to pursue excellence and leadership with strong moral discipline and faith-based values.
The call was made at a career guidance workshop held to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child at the Egba Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta.
The event, themed “Rise to Stardom,” was organized by HER-GUIDE INT’L FORTRESS, a faith-based initiative dedicated to empowering young Muslim girls.
Delivering the keynote address, Alhaja Jeleelah Sanusi encouraged participants to be focused, ambitious, and morally upright while striving for success.
She reminded them that greatness can be achieved without compromising Islamic principles, stressing that “unblemished excellence is possible through discipline and good character.”
The workshop featured an interactive panel session with accomplished Muslim women from diverse professional backgrounds who shared their personal success stories.
Panelists included Mrs. Khadijah Opeewe, a lawyer; Mrs. Simiat Abaru, a broadcaster and editor with Ogun State Television (OGTV); Dr. Islamiat Soneye, a medical doctor; and Mrs. Ganiyat Elegbede, an electrical engineer who shared how she balances her technical duties—often involving climbing poles to string electrical cables—with her faith and observance of hijab.
A representative of the Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, delivered a presentation on “Risky Behaviours Among Young Adults,” urging participants to stay disciplined and avoid peer pressure.
Also speaking, Mrs. Aminat Lawal, who represented the Zonal Education Officer for Abeokuta South, advised the students to take the workshop seriously, describing such forums as rare opportunities to shape their career paths.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Rabiu Kusimo appreciated the Ogun State Government for its collaboration and advised the students to honor their parents’ sacrifices and choose friends who would positively influence their future.
The Chairman of HER-GUIDE INT’L FORTRESS, Arc. Qasim Sanusi, described the workshop as a success, noting that the large turnout of schools demonstrated the growing commitment to nurturing confident and God-fearing young Muslim women.
He added that the event marked “a bold step toward raising a generation of female leaders who will rise to stardom through knowledge, morality, and faith.”
