A 25-year-old petty trader, Mrs. Morenikeji Olatunji, has appealed to well-meaning Nigerians and the Ogun State government for urgent financial assistance after delivering a set of triplets through a Caesarean section in Abeokuta and being detained over an outstanding hospital bill.
Olatunji, who sells costume jewellery at Panseke Market, Abeokuta, told PLATFORM TIMES on Tuesday that she gave birth to the triplets on Monday, November 3, 2025, but has been unable to leave the private hospital after exhausting her savings on medical expenses.
According to her, the family has so far paid N200,000 out of the N500,000 hospital bill, leaving a balance of N300,000.

“I gave birth to triplets through CS. We paid N200,000 already, but we don’t have the power to pay the remaining N300,000,” she said, fighting back tears.
“I am ready to be discharged, but because we have not completed the payment, we are being held back here. We really need help.”
Olatunji, who has been married for seven years, explained that she and her husband, a tailor, had exhausted all their savings trying to settle the bill.
“We already have two children before these triplets. All the money we had has been spent on the hospital bills but we still have a balance,” she lamented.
“We don’t even know how we will feed them. We need the support of people in Ogun State and beyond. Let them please come to our aid and make us happy. There is nothing we can eat.”
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that her husband, Mr. Sulaemon Olateju, had left the hospital in search of funds when our correspondent visited.
The family shared their account details for those willing to assist:
Account Name: Olateju Sulaimon Oluwafemi
Account Number: 7013269408
Bank: Opay
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the birth of the triplets brings the number of children in the family to five.
Members of the public and the Ogun State government have been urged to intervene to prevent further hardship for the young mother and her newborns.
