The much-anticipated 2025 Oronna Ilaro Festival, has kicked off this year celebration, themed “Festival of Joyful Grace”, celebrating peace, progress, and the abundant blessings upon Ilaro, Yewa-South local government area of Ogun State and its people.
The week-long festival, which began on Saturday, November 8, and will run through Saturday, November 15, opened with a press conference where Otunba (Pharm.) Lakan Asuni, Chairman of the Oronna Ilaro Festival Central Planning Committee, welcomed participants and stakeholders to the year’s edition.
Speaking at a press conference to herald the commencement the programme, the Chairman, Oronna ilaro Festival Central Planning Committee, Otunba (Pharm.) Lakan Asuni, described the festival as “one of the most valued cultural events in Yewaland, showcasing the shared history, unity, and heroic spirit.”
He outlined a packed schedule of activities designed to engage all age groups, including roadshows, cultural displays, medical outreaches, sports competitions, beauty pageants, talent shows, youth summits, and parties.

xtended gratitude to the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle for his visionary leadership in preserving and promoting the festival, as well as to sponsors, partners, and every son and daughter of Ilaro who continue to support the tradition.
Highlighting the medical outreach programme, Asuni encouraged residents to take advantage of free health services.
“Last year, we sponsored eye surgery for about 80 people. This year, we plan to treat over 5,000 individuals, particularly the elderly, with a variety of medical tests and procedures,” he said.
Asuni also urged festival-goers to attend the Grand Finale at Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground on Saturday, November 15, beginning at 7:00 a.m., with Alhaji Abdusamad Rabiu serving as the chairman of the occasion.
He encouraged early attendance to fully enjoy the closing celebrations.
The Oronna Ilaro Festival, which blends cultural pride with community service, remains a cornerstone of Ilaro’s identity, drawing participants from across Yewaland and beyond to celebrate tradition, talent, and togetherness.
