Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, has firmly denied reports circulating on social media that he is planning to marry former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, describing the claim as “false, baseless and completely impossible.”
The rumour gained widespread attention after an alleged wedding invitation card surfaced online, suggesting that Pantami and the widow of former President Muhammadu Buhari were set to wed.
The purported invitation, however, lacked a wedding date and other verifiable details, raising questions about its authenticity.
Reacting to the claim in an interview with PRNigeria, Pantami said he was shocked that such a story could be fabricated and shared widely, stressing that the late President Buhari was a father figure to him.
“Aisha Buhari is a mother to us. It is deeply disturbing that anyone could invent and circulate such a story,” Pantami said.
He added, “President Buhari was like a father to us, and his wife is regarded as a mother. Such a claim is not only false but impossible.”
Pantami warned against the growing spread of misinformation on social media platforms, urging the public to disregard the report and verify information before sharing it.
The former minister’s response comes amid renewed concerns over the ease with which unverified claims gain traction online, often involving prominent public figures and sensitive personal matters.
