A Lagos-based medical doctor has been remanded in custody for allegedly issuing a forged medical report to help social welfare activist, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as Just Adetoun, evade arrest, as the Ogun State Government declared the activist wanted over alleged cybercrime-related offences.
The state government, on Monday, confirmed that the Ogun State Police Command had filed a six-count charge against Onajobi, who it said had gone into hiding after failing to honour police invitations over controversial social media videos against Governor Dapo Abiodun.
In a statement issued via its official X handle, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, said the crisis followed videos released by the activist after Nigerian-born British boxing star, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road accident in Ogun State in December 2025.
According to Ogungbade, Onajobi accused the state government of lacking functional emergency ambulance services and alleged that Governor Abiodun was in Ghana “partying and impregnating women” instead of attending to public welfare.
He described the allegations as “false, malicious and dangerous,” insisting that Ogun State operates multiple emergency response and ambulance services across the state.
“These claims are misleading and pose serious public safety risks by discouraging residents from accessing available healthcare services,” the statement read.
The government said it subsequently petitioned the police over alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015, leading to an invitation issued to Onajobi on January 2, 2026, to report on January 5.
“She failed to honour the invitation and went into hiding, despite boasting publicly that she had evidence to substantiate her claims,” Ogungbade stated.
While allegedly evading arrest, the activist released another video claiming she was ill and medically unable to appear before investigators.
However, the Attorney General said her lawyer later submitted a medical report purportedly issued by a Lagos-based doctor to the police, but investigations revealed the document was fabricated.
“The doctor admitted that he never met, examined or treated Adetoun Onajobi as claimed in the report,” Ogungbade said. “He has been arrested, charged and remanded for fraudulent medical documentation and obstruction of justice.”
He added that the activist remained at large and questioned her credibility, accusing her of resorting to forgery instead of presenting evidence to back her allegations.
“One wonders why a person who claimed to have evidence could neither submit it to law enforcement nor publish it, but instead chose to forge medical records,” the Attorney General said.
The statement also alleged that Onajobi had previously engaged in misconduct, including bullying a woman sweeping an estate in Lagos and unlawfully filming and sharing images of the woman’s underage child on social media.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the Ogun State Police Command had earlier confirmed inviting the activist following a petition over her online attacks against the governor. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said the invitation was to aid investigations.
In the videos that sparked the controversy, Onajobi accused the state government of prioritising luxury purchases over public welfare, alleging that while Ogun could not procure functional ambulances, it bought SUVs for local government chairmen in December 2025.
As of press time, police sources said efforts were ongoing to locate and arrest the activist, while the remanded doctor awaits trial.
