The Dangote Industries Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with XCMG Construction Machinery Co. Ltd, one of China’s leading manufacturers of construction and mining equipment, to accelerate infrastructure delivery, industrial growth and green project development across Africa.
The cooperation agreement, signed by both firms, will see them collaborate in key sectors including mining, petrochemicals, building materials, agriculture and large-scale infrastructure, leveraging their combined strengths to drive long-term value creation and regional industrial expansion.
Dangote Group, Africa’s largest diversified industrial conglomerate, operates across cement production, fertiliser, petrochemicals, food processing, agriculture, ports, logistics and mining in Nigeria and several other African countries.
The company is currently scaling up capacity and regional footprints as part of its ambition to grow into a $100bn business by 2030.
XCMG, a founding enterprise of China’s construction machinery industry, has a global presence spanning construction and mining equipment, agricultural machinery, emergency rescue systems and commercial vehicles, with products sold in over 190 countries and regions.
The firm is also pursuing a transition towards high-end, intelligent and environmentally friendly manufacturing.
Under the agreement, XCMG will deploy dedicated project teams to provide integrated equipment and service solutions for Dangote’s operations, particularly in open-pit mining, petrochemicals, building materials and agricultural processing.
The Chinese firm will also leverage its extensive African sales and service network to support Dangote’s projects while facilitating technical exchanges and personnel training visits to China.
A major pillar of the partnership is sustainability and innovation, with both companies committing to joint development of electric and new-energy equipment, deployment of intelligent solutions and promotion of environmentally friendly project benchmarks aimed at reducing carbon emissions and operational costs.
The framework further provides for preferential consideration for each party in projects arising from the partnership, subject to applicable laws and policies, underscoring their shared commitment to mutual growth and industrial development.
The deal reflects Dangote Group’s broader drive to deepen Africa’s industrial capacity through strategic global partnerships, while aligning with XCMG’s ambition to expand its footprint and service offerings across the continent as infrastructure, mining and green investments gather momentum.
