The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) on Monday disclosed that a total of N1.969 trillion was distributed to the federal government, states, and local councils in December 2025, with value-added tax (VAT) revenue surging by N350 billion.
According to a communiqué signed by Bawa Mokwa, FAAC’s Director of Press and Public
Relations at the Accountant-General’s office, the total distributable revenue comprised N1.084 trillion statutory revenue, N846.507 billion VAT, and N38.11 billion from electronic money transfer levy (EMTL).
FAAC reported that gross revenue available in December was N2.58 trillion, with N104.697 billion deducted for collection costs and N511.585 billion allocated for transfers, refunds, and savings.
The communiqué noted a drop in statutory revenue to N1.63 trillion, down N105.2 billion from November, while VAT surged to N913.957 billion, up from N563.042 billion the previous month.
From the N1.969 trillion shared, the federal government received N653.5 billion, states N706.4 billion, and local governments N513.2 billion. Derivation revenue of N96.083 billion was paid to oil-producing states.
Breaking down statutory allocations, the federal government got N520.8 billion, states N264.16 billion, and local governments N203.656 billion. .
From VAT, the federal share was N126.976 billion, states N423.254 billion, and local governments N296.277 billion. The EMTL proceeds went N5.71 billion to the federation, N19.05 billion to states, and N13.33 billion to LGs.
FAAC highlighted significant increases in company income tax, import duties, and VAT, while oil and gas royalties, CET levies, excise duties, petroleum profit tax, and EMTL showed varied declines.
