Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has pledged closer collaboration with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to strengthen operations at the Dangote Refinery and deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.
Dangote made this disclosure on Saturday while hosting NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, during a tour of the refinery.
He said both organisations share a common goal of advancing Nigeria’s energy sector and industrial capacity.
“I think the sky is the limit. We [Dangote Refinery and NNPCL] will cooperate and work together to make Nigerians proud,” Dangote said.
The billionaire industrialist revealed that discussions are underway on potential joint ventures across the energy value chain, including possible upstream partnerships.
He described the refinery not just as a production facility, but as an industrial hub with room for broader investment opportunities.
Highlighting national participation in the project, Dangote said NNPCL holds a 7.25 per cent stake in the refinery on behalf of Nigerians.
He added that plans are in motion to allow individual investors to acquire shares within the next four to five months.
“Individually, Nigerians will also have an opportunity to invest. People will have a choice to receive their dividends in naira or dollars because we earn dollars,” Dangote explained.
He further stated that new industrial projects within the complex, including the production of linear alkylbenzene a key raw material for detergents—are expected to position the facility as a continental supplier.
The projects are slated for delivery within the next 30 months.
NNPCL’s Ojulari described the refinery as a “world-class facility” and commended the partnership as a milestone for Nigeria’s industrial and energy development.
