Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), under Operation HADIN KAI, have killed 25 fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province during coordinated offensives in parts of Borno State.
The military said the operations, which took place in Limankara and Kukawa areas, also led to the recovery of 13 AK-47 rifles and the destruction of several logistics assets used by the insurgents.

Uba, disclosed that troops of Sector 2, operating under Operation Desert Sanity V, carried out a precision raid in the early hours of February 22 around Lamusheri Village in Gujba Local Government Area.
He said the location had been identified as a major launch pad for terrorist attacks and a logistics hub after weeks of intelligence gathering supported by satellite imagery and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance air platforms.
“During the ensuing firefight and exploitation, 15 terrorists were neutralised while scores fled with gunshot wounds,” Uba said.
According to him, troops destroyed extensive defensive and life-support structures within the enclave.
He added that five tricycles and two vehicles used by the insurgents for attacks and movement of supplies were set ablaze, while arms, ammunition, bandoliers and camel pouches were recovered from the scene.
Foiled Infiltration
Uba further disclosed that terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Forward Operating Base in Limankara but were repelled by alert troops.
He said reinforcements, backed by air support from the Nigerian Air Force, overwhelmed the attackers, forcing them to retreat through a burial ground axis.
In a related operation at about 11:20 p.m., insurgents mounted on gun trucks and motorcycles launched a coordinated, multi-pronged assault on troops in Kukawa from the Alagarno and Jemmu axes.
“The troops engaged the attackers in an intense firefight that extended into the early hours of February 21. Overpowered by superior fire and coordinated resistance from ground forces and air support, the terrorists withdrew, dragging away casualties,” the statement said.
Air components subsequently conducted precision strikes, destroying one terrorist gun truck and killing four fighters on board.
Persistent aerial surveillance tracked fleeing insurgents on five motorcycles to a convergence point, where another strike neutralised 10 additional fighters and destroyed the motorcycles.
Following the clearance operations, troops recovered 13 AK-47 rifles, 16 loaded magazines, three handheld communication radios and stretchers used by the insurgents to evacuate casualties. Shallow graves and blood trails were also discovered at the scene.
However, the military confirmed that one soldier was killed during the engagements, while some combat enablers were destroyed by rocket fire.
“The wounded personnel were promptly evacuated by Nigerian Army Aviation helicopters and are in stable condition,” Uba added.
The latest offensive comes amid sustained military efforts to degrade insurgent capabilities and restore normalcy across the North-East region.
