The wife of a slain terrorist commander surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Konduga on Thursday.
The 25-year-old woman, Kaltum Dalha, arrived at a Forward Operating Base at about 11:00 a.m. on February 26, 2026, accompanied by her two-year-old child, Awana Dalha.
Preliminary investigations revealed that her husband, reportedly the commander of the Mairam Buri enclave, was killed by troops during a recent firefight.
Sources disclosed that the death of her husband prompted Dalha to surrender.
During interrogation, she confirmed that the terrorist cell had disintegrated following the elimination of its leadership.
“Her surrender is an indication of the collapse of Boko Haram networks in the area. The group has been losing cohesion following the neutralisation of its commanders,” a military official said.
Operation Hadin Kai, which has intensified offensives across Borno and neighboring states in recent months, has recorded significant successes, including the neutralisation of several top commanders, arrests of fighters, recovery of arms and ammunition, and surrender of insurgents and their family members.
Security analysts say that the continued surrender of members and dependents is a positive development for counter-terrorism efforts and could provide intelligence to dismantle remaining cells.
Dalha has since been placed under protective custody, while military authorities continue investigations into the remnants of the disbanded terror group.
