The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed four officers of the Nigeria Police Force over their alleged involvement in the killing of seven traders in the Owode-Onirin area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed this on Thursday while speaking with journalists at the Police Officers’ Mess in Ikeja.
Jimoh said the officers were dismissed following an internal disciplinary process, adding that the command had made significant progress in the investigation of the incident.
According to him, the dismissed officers were allegedly brought from Nasarawa State by a principal suspect identified simply as Ariori, who is believed to have played a key role in the killings.
The police boss assured that the command was determined to ensure justice for the victims, noting that forensic evidence, including ballistic and autopsy reports, had been deployed to strengthen the investigation.
“This matter has not been swept under the carpet, and we want the public and the families of the victims to know that nobody can stop us from ensuring that justice is done,” Jimoh said.
“We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone. All suspects will be prosecuted and the courts remain open to hear every case.”
Jimoh added that about 98 per cent of the investigation had been concluded, expressing confidence that those responsible for the crime would soon face prosecution.
He reiterated the commitment of the police to maintaining law and order across the state, stressing that no individual or group would be allowed to obstruct the course of justice.
The commissioner also urged residents, particularly traders in affected communities, to remain vigilant while cooperating with security agencies.
The incident, which occurred in August 2025, reportedly followed a violent clash between suspected land grabbers and traders in the Owode-Onirin area of Lagos State, leaving seven traders dead.
