Egbin Power Plc has unveiled 80 new residential housing units for its employees within its power plant premises in Egbin, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, as part of efforts to strengthen staff welfare and improve productivity.
The company disclosed that the housing development, completed in January 2026, consists of 40 fully furnished three-bedroom apartments and 40 furnished studio apartments designed to provide a comfortable and secure living environment for workers and their families.
According to the company, the project, which commenced in 2025, forms part of its broader strategy to enhance employee welfare and support operational efficiency within the organisation.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour, said the company remained committed to prioritising the wellbeing of its workforce despite the challenges facing Nigeria’s power sector.
He said, “At Egbin Power, our people are our most valuable asset. Even amidst the prevailing liquidity and operational realities within the broader power sector, our focus on employee welfare has remained deliberate and consistent.
“This expansion of our residential estate is a practical demonstration of that commitment. It is one of several initiatives designed to ensure that our employees feel supported and can thrive both personally and professionally.”
Bounour added that the housing project was part of a long-term strategy aimed at building a stable and motivated workforce capable of sustaining the company’s operational performance.
The power generation firm also disclosed that it had promoted 112 employees across different cadres within the past three years as part of efforts to reward performance and strengthen staff motivation.
In addition, the company said it had continued to implement training and development programmes focused on technical capacity building, leadership training, and mentorship to equip employees with the skills required to meet evolving industry demands.
Egbin Power noted that its investments in staff welfare, housing, and professional development were designed to align employee wellbeing with organisational performance and ensure sustainable growth in the power generation sector.
