Islamic scholars have stressed that humility and tolerance are indispensable virtues for leaders, not only in religious spheres but in all areas of governance.
The submission was made by the Missioner of Daru Soliheem Arabic and Islamic Center, Ota, Fadeelatu Sheikh Ibrahim Ajadi Yusuf, during the annual Salako Family Ramadan Lecture/Tafsir held at the Ota Recreational Club Field, GRA Ota.
The event was organised by the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and drew clerics, Islamic groups, and political associates from Aworiland and beyond.
Sheikh Yusuf, who delivered a lecture titled “Leadership and Followership in Islam: Lessons from the Life of Prophet Muhammad,” urged Muslim leaders to emulate the Prophet’s exemplary leadership, highlighting Ramadan as a period for spiritual reflection and moral recalibration.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grant the faithful the strength to “finish strong” as the holy month winds down.
Appreciating participants at the Tafsir, Deputy Governor Salako-Oyedele described the annual programme as a family tradition that fosters unity and shared purpose among the Awori clans, Yewaland, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large.
In separate goodwill messages, dignitaries, including the Chairman of the House of Assembly Commission, Hon Suraj Adekunbi, lauded the Deputy Governor’s initiative, calling it a “godly approach to community development and responsible leadership.”
They noted that the gathering provided a platform for spiritual growth, family cohesion, and communal harmony, praying that the programme would continue in the years ahead.
The event also featured special prayers for Nigeria, Ogun State, its leaders, Ota, and the entire Aworiland.
