I would like to begin by congratulating the Kabiyesi Alake of Egba land and the entire people of Egbaland, who proudly claim Lisabi as their progenitor. Under the leadership of Oba Adedotun Arẹmu Gbadebo the IV, Abeokuta Egbaland has experienced significant growth, and we appreciate the notable advancements in urban and social development during Oba Adedotun’s tenure, which indeed reflects the innovative spirit his name embodies.
Nevertheless, I am intrigued by the criticism surrounding the creative fashion segment introduced by the Ààre of Ẹgba through the Lai Labode Foundation.
Why do some of our people hastily condemn innovative ideas? It is crucial to remind these critics that the Ẹgba people have historically been pioneers in Nigeria’s development, earning the distinction of being the ‘Firsts’ in numerous groundbreaking achievements.
The recent Lisabi Festival has reaffirmed this notion, underscoring the Egbas’ position as leaders in innovation.
The last two Lisabi festivals in Abeokuta have showcased unprecedented innovation and creativity, largely due to the active participation of youth and the invaluable contributions of the Lai Labode Foundation and its team of Egba indigenes. Let’s appreciate them rather than criticism and condemnation
The festival have gone for the 39th edition looking forward to the 40th by next year but they criticism of events of the past two best events has been so intense, focused on outright criticism of Egbaliganza..
There are typical Yoruba songs, Ema F’ote ba’hun to dara jẹ:… It’s apt at this point. It simply Implies that those elements disparaging Ààrẹ Lai Labode’s Egbaliganza and his Crew should desist from these Anti progressive acts,
My last assessment of the Lisabi Festival revealed approximately 10 distinct programs within its 8-day schedule.
I find it intriguing that critics concentrate solely on the fashion segment, while neglecting other socio-cultural, artistic, and dramatic aspects that also face challenges. Why do critics exhibit hypocrisy by assuming the Festival is only about fashion?
In reality, the Lisabi Festival necessitates greater involvement from individuals like Lai Labode, who single-handedly attracted over 40 country ambassadors and cultural representatives, as well as federal government presence. Such contributions warrant appreciation, rather than criticism.
