A former lawmaker, Senator Tolu Odebiyi, has congratulated Solomon Olamilekan Adeola on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Odebiyi, who represented Ogun West Senatorial District between 2019 and 2023, described Adeola’s emergence as “symbolic and historic,” noting that it signalled a strengthening of internal democratic processes within the party.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the former senator said the development marked a defining moment for Ogun West, adding that it effectively ended what he termed a “long-standing jinx” over the district’s governorship aspirations.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his role in fostering unity and fairness within the party, which he said contributed to the emergence of a consensus candidate.
Odebiyi further lauded key party leaders in the state, including former governor Olusegun Osoba; incumbent governor Dapo Abiodun; as well as ex-governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, for their roles in ensuring a smooth and unified selection process.
According to him, Adeola’s emergence represents a collective victory for party members, particularly those from Ogun West, who have long agitated for the governorship slot.
He pledged his unwavering support for the APC candidate, expressing confidence in Adeola’s chances of securing victory at the polls.
“Your emergence is indeed a victory for all of us, particularly in Ogun West. I assure you of my unwavering support as you move forward to secure victory at the polls,” Odebiyi stated.
He also prayed for the success of the APC at both the state and federal levels in the forthcoming elections.
