A 20-year-old undergraduate of the University of Lagos has told an Ikeja High Court how she was allegedly raped by a lecturer, Dr Samuel Ojogbo, in his office.
The student, who testified before Justice Oyindamola Ogala, alleged that the incident occurred in August 2025 after the lecturer asked her to see him following an examination.

Azeez, the witness recounted that the lecturer initially approached her during an examination, asking if the questions reflected her areas of study.
She said, “I told him I was familiar with a section. He then asked me to see him after the exam.”
The student told the court that although she made attempts to meet him that day, she did not succeed until the following day when he supervised another examination.
According to her, the lecturer later asked her to wait after the exam and subsequently led her to an isolated underground office.
She said, “The office had no windows and no secretary. We discussed the exam briefly before two students came in. He asked them to leave and told me to shut the door.
“As I turned to close it, he came behind me, pushed me onto a couch and started touching me.”
Fighting back tears, the witness alleged that the lecturer then forcefully had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
“He caressed me and forced himself on me. After that, he said he would supervise my final-year project and collected my phone number,” she added.
The student said she left the office in tears and immediately confided in a friend, after which the matter was reported within the department.
She further told the court that when the case was taken to the Head of Department, she was asked to provide evidence, while the defendant denied the allegation.
According to her, the HOD advised that the matter be dropped and urged her to be more careful in her dealings with lecturers.
Dissatisfied with the response, she said her uncle insisted on escalating the case, leading to a formal complaint to relevant authorities, including the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.
She added that she was referred to a police station in Bariga and later to a sexual assault referral centre for medical examination, after which the case was transferred to the police gender unit.
The witness also told the court that the defendant’s family later reached out for a meeting.
The Lagos State Government has since arraigned the lecturer on a two-count charge bordering on alleged rape and sexual assault.
The prosecution said the offences contravene Sections 260 and 263(1) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015, which prescribe life imprisonment upon conviction.
Justice Ogala adjourned the case till April 27, 2026, for cross-examination of the witness.
