A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Rev. Olusola Salau, has commended the organiser of the Yayi Progressive Movement, Armstrong Tope Akintunde, over what he described as a successful inauguration of the group in Ogun State.
Salau, who is the Director of Ogo Titun for PBAT and a prominent figure in the Prince Dapo Abiodun and Yayi 2027 Movement, gave the commendation shortly after the event held at Ake Palace, Abeokuta, on Sunday.
He described Akintunde as a committed mobiliser whose efforts, he said, attracted a large turnout of supporters and stakeholders to the inauguration.
The cleric, however, urged Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, to recognise him as a key stakeholder in the political structure driving the senator’s reported 2027 governorship ambition in the state.
Salau said he had been actively mobilising support across Ogun State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Adeola, noting that his contributions to the movement deserved acknowledgement.
He further described Akintunde as an influential figure within the All Progressives Congress, adding that his role in supporting Adeola’s political aspirations would remain notable in the state’s political landscape.
The APC chieftain also alleged that there were attempts by opposition elements to frustrate the inauguration by preventing some stakeholders from attending, but said the event recorded success despite the challenges.
According to him, favourable weather conditions and the enthusiasm of participants contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme.
Salau expressed appreciation to Akintunde for his involvement in the planning of the event and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Tinubu, Abiodun and Adeola ahead of future political contests.
