Founder of the AMS Charity Foundation, Alhaji Mohammed Sodiq, has formally declared his intention to contest the Imeko-Afon State Constituency seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, describing the move as a strategic step towards deepening grassroots representation and accelerating development in the constituency.
Sodiq, according to the statement, said his ambition was driven by the need to strengthen legislative representation for Imeko-Afon and address key challenges affecting the people, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, youth empowerment and education.
He also pledged to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress governorship consensus candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 elections.
The statement noted that Sodiq’s declaration aligns with his long-standing involvement in community development through the AMS Charity Foundation, which has executed several interventions across Ogun State.
Among such efforts is the recent payment of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination fees for 25 students across selected secondary schools in Ogun West and Ogun East senatorial districts.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the initiative, though not the primary focus of the declaration, reflects Sodiq’s commitment to human capital development and support for indigent students.
It was further gathered that the foundation’s programmes would continue alongside Sodiq’s political aspiration, noting that beneficiaries of its education scheme would be monitored beyond secondary school.
Sodiq reaffirmed his commitment to delivering effective representation if elected, promising inclusive policies and sustained engagement with constituents to address their needs.
