The All Progressives Congress has distanced itself from results of ongoing senatorial direct primaries being circulated across several states, declaring them unauthorized and in violation of party directives.
There is also growing anxiety within political circles over an alleged plan to release what is being described as an “FG list,” with the Federal Government reportedly set to unveil a document said to contain preferred candidates, further fuelling concerns about transparency in the process.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Office of the National Chairman, the party said its attention had been drawn to what it described as “unauthorized announcements” of primary election results emerging from different parts of the country.
The statement stressed that such declarations contravene the position of the party’s National Secretariat and the directive of the National Working Committee, which had mandated that no results should be made public at the senatorial level until due process is completed.
According to the party, all results must undergo a formal process of review, verification and approval by the NWC before any official announcement can be made.
“The NWC explicitly directed that no results should be announced until they have been duly reviewed and approved. Any result currently in circulation does not represent the official position of the party,” the statement read.
The APC, therefore, urged its members and the general public to disregard any figures or outcomes being speculated upon or shared across platforms, warning that they lack authenticity.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, the party assured stakeholders that the primary process would be conducted in a transparent, free and credible manner.
It added that authentic results would be formally communicated upon the conclusion of the entire exercise.
The statement was signed by the Chief of Staff to the National Chairman, Hon. Albukareem Bala Kwara, and dated May 18, 2026.
