The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) has invited the Executive Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (Osun State Universal Basic Education Board), Ibukun Fadipe, for interrogation over alleged irregularities in the management of Federal Government counterpart funds and education intervention projects.
In a letter dated May 19, 2026, and signed by the EFCC Director of Investigation, Abdulkarim Chukkol, the anti-graft agency directed Fadipe to appear before its investigators at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on May 26, 2026.
The commission said the invitation is connected to ongoing investigations into the utilisation of counterpart grants and execution of projects under the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) scheme in Osun State between 2024 and the present.
Citing Section 38 (1) and (2) of the EFCC Establishment Act, 2004, the commission stated that it is probing how intervention funds meant for basic education development were deployed across the state.
According to the letter referenced CR:3000/EFCC/ABJ/PFS/HQ/TA/OSU/VOL.17/322, the commission requested detailed documentation covering eight key areas of the intervention funds.
Among the documents demanded are evidence of counterpart funding remitted for UBEC matching grants since 2024, action plans, utilisation frameworks, and records of projects executed with the funds.
The EFCC also requested full details of contracts awarded under the scheme, including award letters, contractual agreements, payment schedules, and bank transaction records linked to the projects.
Other requirements include project status reports, payment vouchers, approvals, and all documents submitted to the Universal Basic Education Commission (Universal Basic Education Commission) prior to fund disbursement.
The commission further directed that Fadipe must appear in person with all requested documents for an interview with investigators from the Procurement Fraud Section at its headquarters, Plot 301/302 Institutions and Research District, Abuja, by 10:00am on the scheduled date.
