The Ogun Prosperity Movement, a grassroots political group backing the All Progressives Congress, has announced plans to mobilise about 2,000 party members and community leaders for a mega rally in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The rally, scheduled for October 1, 2026, will hold at the Community High School, Iwoye-Ketu, beginning at 10am.
The organisers said the gathering would draw party faithful and community leaders from the 10 wards in the local government as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A major highlight of the event will be the presentation and addresses by APC candidates seeking elective positions in the 2027 elections, including candidates for governor, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly in Ogun West.
The candidates are expected to present their programmes and engage stakeholders on issues bordering on inclusive development, grassroots empowerment and economic prosperity in Ogun West and the state.
The Convener of the Ogun Prosperity Movement, Hon. Albert Asipa, described the rally as more than a political gathering, saying it would demonstrate the readiness of the people of Imeko-Afon to demand purposeful leadership and development.
Asipa, a former Chairman of Imeko-Afon Local Government and National President of the Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria, said the area had enormous economic and developmental potential.
He said, “Imeko-Afon Local Government has enormous potential. This Mega Rally is not just a gathering, it is a declaration that the people are ready for purposeful leadership, development, and prosperity.”
According to him, the movement is mobilising across all 10 wards to demonstrate its commitment to grassroots development and what he described as “real dividends of democracy” for residents.
The group said its activities were focused on promoting good governance, economic growth and political unity across Ogun State while supporting the political aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The organisers also assured residents and participants that adequate security and logistical arrangements had been made to ensure a peaceful and orderly event.
Party stakeholders, residents and members of the media were invited to attend the rally.
