The Ogun State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Chairman of the Ogun State Park Management Services (OGSPAM), Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin, popularly known as Iyeru, describing his death as a major loss to the state’s transport sector and the wider community.
The government said Bodunrin’s death had created a significant vacuum in the administration and coordination of motor parks and garages across the state, where he played a prominent role in managing relationships among transport operators, unions and government agencies.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, FNSE, FNICE, conveyed the government’s condolences in a statement issued on behalf of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the state government and the people of Ogun State.
Dairo described the deceased as a “prominent stakeholder” whose contributions to the development, regulation and peaceful administration of the state’s transport sector would remain significant.
“His death is a painful loss to the Government, the transport sector, the organised transport unions and, indeed, the entire people of Ogun State,” the commissioner stated.
According to him, Bodunrin demonstrated considerable commitment to maintaining order, discipline and coordination within the state’s motor parks and garages during his tenure as OGSPAM chairman.
Dairo noted that the deceased’s position placed him at the centre of efforts to promote harmonious relationships among transport operators, government agencies and other stakeholders in the sector.
He added that beyond his official responsibilities, Bodunrin “commanded considerable influence and respect” among transport operators and members of his community.
The commissioner said his demise would be deeply felt by his family, associates, colleagues and the wider transport community.
“His leadership role placed him at the centre of efforts to foster harmonious relationships among transport operators, government agencies and other stakeholders in the sector,” Dairo said.
The government extended its condolences to Bodunrin’s immediate family, the leadership and members of OGSPAM, transport unions and associations, as well as his friends, colleagues and other associates.
“On behalf of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, and the Government and good people of Ogun State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin, the leadership and members of OGSPAM, transport unions and associations, as well as all those who mourn this painful loss,” Dairo said.
The commissioner prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Bodunrin’s shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for strength and fortitude for the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues and associates to bear the loss.
“May Almighty Allah grant the soul of Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin eternal rest,” Dairo added.
