…Urges party members to unite, focus on 2027

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Ogun State, Otunba Jimi Adebisi Lawal, has celebrated his birthday with party leaders and members at the ADC secretariat in Itoko, Abeokuta, days after the Court of Appeal dismissed a challenge to his emergence as the party’s governorship candidate.
Lawal, who marked the occasion alongside the state executive, local government chairmen, women leaders, candidates and other party stakeholders, said he deliberately chose the party secretariat for the celebration to demonstrate his commitment to the ADC and its members.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for the candidate to thank party leaders and supporters for their solidarity following the legal challenge to his candidacy.
Explaining his decision to celebrate with party members, Lawal said, “I chose to be here on my birthday with our party leaders and members because the ADC is a family, and our collective strength lies in our unity, solidarity and shared commitment to building a better Ogun State.”
He urged party executives, leaders and grassroots members to close ranks and remain committed to the party’s objectives ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Lawal also appealed to Ogun residents to support his governorship ambition, saying his administration would focus on development, opportunities and improved welfare for citizens.
The birthday celebration came shortly after the Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal challenging his emergence as the ADC governorship candidate.
The development was described by the party as a further boost to Lawal’s candidacy as the ADC intensifies preparations for the election.
Speaking at the event, the ADC Ogun State Chairman, Otunba Dr Oluwafemi Soluade, urged party leaders, candidates and members to “count their blessings one by one,” while describing Lawal as a “dogged fighter.”
Soluade also congratulated Lawal on the outcome of the appeal, describing the court victory as a “double portion of blessing” and urging members to remain focused and united.
He stressed that cooperation among the party’s leadership, candidates and grassroots structures would be crucial to the party’s preparations for the election.
