The founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not complete a second term in office if re-elected in the 2027 presidential election.
Ayodele claimed that circumstances, including what he described as concerns about the President’s health, could prevent Tinubu from completing another four-year tenure and potentially pave the way for Vice-President Kashim Shettima to assume the presidency.
The cleric made the prediction in a video posted on Tuesday, warning that the situation could be similar to the circumstances surrounding the administration of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who died in office in 2010.
Ayodele said, “If Tinubu wins the second time, he will not finish it. I stand by my word, he will not finish it.
“What happened to Yar’Adua or whatever that will make him not to finish it that will lead to emergency government, make Shettima take over from him might happen.”
He added: “Tinubu will not finish his second term, thus says the Lord of hosts.”
The cleric further claimed that people around the President were preventing him from receiving what Ayodele described as the truth, alleging that he had been denied access to Tinubu.
“People surrounding Tinubu don’t want him to hear the truth. They don’t want him to hear people like us,” he said.
Ayodele also appealed to members of the President’s family to pray for him, claiming that Tinubu was not in good health.
“You are not seeing what I am seeing. Tinubu is not OK. He needs prayers. Wife, children of Tinubu, wake up. Seyi! Help Tinubu. Don’t let your father die,” he said.
However, the health-related claims made by the cleric have not been independently verified and should not be construed as a medical assessment of the President.
The prediction comes amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general election and renewed attention on the constitutional role of the Vice-President whenever the President is unable to perform his functions.
Shettima is currently representing Tinubu at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he is scheduled to deliver Nigeria’s national statement. The Presidency said the Vice-President was mandated by Tinubu to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the global gathering.
The Presidency had also defended Tinubu’s current absence from the country, saying the President remained engaged with government affairs and was expected to return to Nigeria at the weekend.
