Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has recounted an unusual experience he said occurred shortly after his victory in the governorship election, claiming that a dead vulture was found on his bed when he returned home exhausted from the election campaign.
The governor also claimed that another bird died in his office after he ordered the demolition of the Black House in Sapele, Delta State.
Okpebholo reportedly narrated the incidents while addressing members of a church, describing the experience following his election victory as one that carried spiritual significance.
Recounting the first incident, the governor said he had gone several days without sleep during the election period and returned home physically exhausted.
According to him, he was about to jump onto his bed when something appeared to restrain him, prompting him to look more closely at the bed.
“When I won election, we went to the house. I was tired. I had not slept for days and I wanted to jump into the bed, something held me back,” he said.
He added, “I looked on the bed and I saw a vulture on my bed, dead.”
The governor suggested that the incident had a spiritual meaning, interpreting it as a possible sign associated with his electoral victory.
He further alleged that a separate incident involving a bird occurred in his office after he ordered the demolition of the Black House in Sapele.
However, the account provided did not establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged death of the second bird or independently verify the governor’s claims.
The governor’s narration has drawn attention because of its unusual nature and the spiritual interpretation he attached to the incidents.
The account did not provide further details about when the alleged incidents occurred, the circumstances surrounding the birds’ deaths or whether any investigation was conducted.
